Sunlight
Crystal Cleansing
Harness the powerful, yang energy of the sun to cleanse and energize your crystals. Sunlight offers quick, potent cleansing for sun-safe stones, infusing them with vibrant, activating solar energy.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Verify Sun Safety
CRITICAL FIRST STEP: Check if your crystals are sun-safe. Color-sensitive stones will permanently fade in sunlight. Use the safety guide below. When in doubt, use moonlight instead.
Choose the Right Time
Morning sun (6-10am) or late afternoon (4-6pm) is gentler than harsh midday rays. Avoid intense noon sun which can overheat crystals. Spring and fall sun is milder than summer. Choose a sunny day with direct light exposure.
Place in Direct Sunlight
Set crystals outdoors, on a windowsill, or anywhere receiving direct sunlight. Use a natural surface like wood, stone, or earth. Ensure all sides receive light by spacing crystals apart. Protect from wind if placing small stones outside.
Set Your Intention
State your cleansing intention: "I ask the sun to cleanse these crystals with purifying solar energy, burning away all negativity and filling them with light." Visualize golden sunlight penetrating each crystal, dissolving darkness.
Leave for 2-4 Hours
Set a timer for 2-4 hours maximum. DO NOT exceed 4 hours to prevent fading or heat damage. Even 30 minutes provides effective cleansing for quick maintenance. Retrieve promptly when timer sounds.
Retrieve and Cool
Bring crystals inside. They may be warm to touch. Allow to cool to room temperature before handling extensively or placing in water. Thank the sun for its cleansing energy. Crystals are now cleared and solar-charged.
